Terry Butters CD

I first heard Terry playing boogie woogie piano in a pub in Stoke-on-Trent in the early eighties. He obviously knew what he was doing. We had a chat and decided to do a couple of gigs together. So, we named the band after Terry's car and headed for Derby to buy one of those little Indian harmoniums. Deep in conversation about his travelling fair adventures, we parked in the middle of town, about four miles from the shop. As we walked we talked of boogie woogie and blues piano players and guys like Ry Cooder, Van Morrison, Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams - the lads. We found the shop and Terry treated the big Sikh and his little pal to some harmonium boogie woogie. We had a good time. They loved it so much they knocked twenty quid off the deal. Terry's a cool piano player and a really nice bloke. You should buy his records and go to his gigs.     Gavin Sutherland, January 1999

On this CD, Terry's steady rolling piano moves easily through country tinged ballads, late night smokey blues, to good rockin' boogie woogie
